Luggage and Trains in Switzerland

Any help available for loading luggage onto trains? We'll leave most of it in our hotel once we get there.

Strictly speaking - No. We have seen porters at the entrance to train stations offering to take luggage on carts to the platform for a fee or a good tip. I don't know if they would hang around long enough to load the luggage on the train. And certainly they will not be there to unload it or to get it to the front of the station. Often there are hand carts available to move luggage on the platforms but you will not find much assistance. And I have seen "questionable characters" in train stations offering assistance. Not sure I would completely trust them but if you may have to. In those situation make sure you have loose bills in a pocket to pay them. You do not want to be dragging out a fat billfold that they could grab or opening a purse. Have the money loose in your pocket so that is all you are showing. Of course, the next question is .......... why do you have that much luggage?

Frank is basically right - throughout Europe "you tote what you brung". Switzerland does have a scheme however which can help. You can leave your luggage at a station and it will travel to your destination on a different train and you collect that evening if dropped early or tomorrow if not. There is a fee. Would that help? It is available to/from many (most?) stations .
