Luggage and Cinque terre

We plan to spend 2 nights and 1 day in Cinque Terre. Where can I leave most of our luggage as we hike when we are staying in 2 different places?

Hi Karin - At the La Spezia stazione centrale - the same train station that you would use to go up to the 5 villages, there is a storage station that will take your luggage. They charge a small fee but it is protected and safe.
Enjoy La Cinque Terre , and if time permits, try the cliff walk between Riomaggiore and Manarola - SPECTACULAR!!! Only takes about 15 minutes

karin,

Could you provide a bit more information on the "2 different places" that you'll be staying? Are they in the same C.T. village? As you'll be there for two nights, I'm wondering why you can't leave your luggage in your Hotel while you're hiking?

Or you drop it off at your second hotel in the morning before check in.

Karin- A caveat about the La Spezia checked luggage station: it's not staffed around the clock. Last year we were leaving the CT area early in the morning and lugged excess luggage up and down the mountain rather than check it because we needed to leave earlier than 08:00. Be sure to ask before checking and even then don't count on them to open promptly on time. Enjoy!!

We are in Italy now and planning to hike the Cinque Terre for a few days. Does anyone have any updated information on baggage storage at Pisa Train Station or La Spezia train station? We'd like to take the train to Monterossa and hike to Vernazza to stay, and we'd need to do this without our extra luggage. Thanks.

Shana, there's another solution that doesn't involve leaving your extra luggage in Pisa or La Spezia. Buy a ticket from La Spezia to Monterosso. You have 4 hours from the time the ticket is validated to complete the trip. Board a train that stops in Vernazza (validate shortly before boarding). Get off in Vernazza and either drop off your extra luggage at your lodgings or check in. You'll have about an hour before the next train, so there plenty of time for either. Take the train to Monterosso and hike back to Vernazza.
