We will be traveling by train to Gamish from Munich. We will have luggage with us. What do you do when traveling the trains with luggage. Is it checked or just carried with you? Any help would be appreciated. Linda
The answer is the same as you got when you asked the question earlier in another section. You keep your luggage with you. There is no checking. You are responsible for your own luggage. If you have a lot of luggage, more than a piece each, you need to be able to handle it quickly as trains do not stay in the station long. It would be smarter to have two bags weighing 25 lb instead of one bag weighing 50lb. And, of course, smarter still to have one bag weighing 25lb.
There are storage bins near the car entrances and carryon size can go on the overhead racks. And, sometimes, depending on seat arrangement, a tall bag might slip behind or between the seats when seats are back to back.
According to the German Rail site DB Bahn trains leaving Garmisch-Partenkirchen depart approximately every 1/2 hour and arrive at Munich Hbf approximately 1-1/2 hours later.
On the DB site it will show you the Intermediate Stops which show you the Station Stops along your route, time and platform number. I prints those for our travel day. That way I know the last stop and when to prepare to depart.
Personally, printing the Timetables and Station Stops made our trip go without any flaws.
BTW, you do not have to change trains.
