I purchased a premium economy Lufthansa ticket on a long-haul flight. I now see that I can bid to upgrade to business class. I'm clueless about the best way to approach this. The flight is not until May. Do i bid now or wait? Do I bid a percentage of the paid ticket price? I want to bid the least amount possible and still get the upgrade. If my bid is rejected, will I have the chance to bid again? Thanks in advance!

For good advice on something like this, you'll do better asking this question over on FlyerTalk. The obsessive maniacs there will have more/better insights than folks here (your question is super-specific, involves gaming the system to some extent, and you'll need to hear from people who have done this successfully). There's lots of jargon and some attitude there you may need to work through, but plenty of first-hand knowledge if you can. Good luck.

Friend of mine tried this bidding thing recently. He'd never done anything like that before and just thought, nothing to lose so why not?
Two days before departing, he offered about 50% of the first class round trip price and got it.
