I cancelled a trip to Austria last November when they locked down again and Lufthansa was kind enough to give me a courtesy hold so that I could reschedule. I didn't expect a refund. I rebooked (required to pay a fare that was as high or higher than my original tickets, even though published rates were much cheaper) and my trip is coming up soon.
Oddly, the entire price I paid for my tickets just showed back up on my same credit card from last fall. My booking codes still showed my flights as confirmed and I could not make any headway with Lufthansa. I wasn't considering trying to fly for free.
I finally reached someone who confirmed they randomly cancelled my tickets and I could buy them again for the new much higher price. No way to go back and fix whatever mistake this was. I booked with another airline, also at today's much higher prices. Oh well.
Glad I found out, from my cc statement, that there was an issue so that I could resolve this before I was standing in the airport.
Has anyone else had Lufthansa just cancel their tickets even though the flight is still scheduled to go?
