How are the meals on Lufthansa? Does anyone have experience with the special meals (gluten free, etc)? Snacks? Drinks? We're flying the new Seattle to Frankfurt direct route in December (leave Seattle in the afternoon, arrive in Frankfurt in the morning.)

Lufthansa has very good food and are very generous with bringing water and juice around. They are also generous with their Bailey's.

Cate....yes, Lufthansa prepares a wide variety of meals that can be special-ordered. I always order the low-sodium meal on long haul flights if I can. In your case, they do have gluten-free. Check their website at http://tinyurl.com/6mhwdw

My wife always orders the special meals, she is vegetarian, and on Lufthansa, and really all foreign carriers, the meals tend to be really good. I think mostly because the meals tend to be a little more exotic or at least different, for variety. Probably the only thing I noticed is that the special meals tend to have fewer items (snacks, sides, etc) than the regular meal, but bringing along a few items fixes that,

Thank you! I've had our special meals ordered since tickets purchased...I was curious about the quantity/quality of food and what types of snacks/drinks they give out.
