Lufthansa airline seats

I read that Lufthansa's new seating is, while technically closer together (pitch wise), actually gives you an additional 2 inches more leg room due to new seat design. Anyone experienced this yet (it's just being rolled out)? My husband and I are both tall so this would be a deal maker for us even at a couple hundred more.

Marie, although I can't answer your question exactly, let me tell you this: we flew on Lufthansa last month, and the flights we took had a few rows of seats in the back that were in pairs as opposed to the three in a row in the rest of the section. If you go to seatguru.com, you can see a diagram of the exact aircraft that you're considering taking. It's easier if you're looking at this as my description may be confusing. The reason I'm telling you this, is that we had extra room towards the window at the window seat which allowed for whoever sat there to kind of stretch their legs diagonally. Then, the aisle seat of course allowed for stretching into the aisle a bit unless a cart was coming through. Hopefully someone can answer your two inch question, but if not, I wanted to offer an alternate idea...

Here is a link to the article I read about the new seating. Essentially, this changes the measurement that seatguru and seatexpert uses - which is seat pitch. If you go just by seat pitch you may avoid the aircraft that has the new seating even though it may give you more space. I don't think there is any extra charge for these seats - they cover the entire aircraft (economy seating). http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204294504576612993395310426.html?KEYWORDS=lufthansa+seats

I flew them 10 days ago. The flight to Frankfurt did seem a little roomier but the flight back from Frankfurt seemed much tighter as well as an older plane as it did not have individual consoles on the back of the seats.
