paul, my suggestion would be to book your flight AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! European budget airlines often use a "sliding scale", and the prices increase as the flight fills. You can book your flight on the internet, but NOTE that flights are often non-changeable and non-refundable once booked. On flights from Budapest to Barcelona, your choices are Vueling, Germanwings and Wizzair. I've never flown that route, but I'd start with Vueling as it seems to be one of the more reliable budget airlines. The price listed at the moment for Sept. 2 is 90€, with the flight departing at 14:10, arriving at 16:35. I didn't check the other carriers, but that will give you some idea. One final point to note is that most airlines in Europe only allow ONE carry-on item of the approved size and weight. Be sure to check their terms of service carefully so that you don't have any "surprises" at the airport. Good luck and happy travels!

Enter your booking inquiry on www.swoodoo.com. Now owned by Kayak they're a European low fares meta search engine. When searching for cheap flights to Barcelona also check for flights to Girona and Reus, which e.g. are the two Ryanair airports in the greater BCN area.

I just looked at Swoodoo and don't see an English language option. Am I missing something??

Iberia also flies that route nonstop. Fares vary quite a bit depending on the date you want to fly. You might want to check farecompare.com; it allows you to see the fare options by date for multiple carriers.

Re: Swoodoo

You're right. All of a sudden the English language option is gone. Latvian, however, is still available. Anyway, you want to find out about flights and those queries work the same way in every language. The first line in the blue box is your outbound flight (from, date, times - times is defaulted to "any time during that day"), second line is return flight respectively the destination field. First box is city of destination followed by date and time of the return flight (usually roundtrips are cheaper than one-ways, so try both in case you only need a one way). "Hin- und Rückflug" means return flight, "Nur Hinflug" means one-way only. "1 Erwachsener" means one adult. "Kinder" means... I suppose you can take a guess here. "Flug Suchen" is "Search Flight"...

You could opt to use Swoodoo's owner, Kayak.com, or whichbudget.com.

Paul....as Ken mentioned at the outset, the sooner you book, the cheaper the price is likely to be. If you're not firm on your travel dates yet, I guess you will have to wait....but book as soon as you know.
