Hi all, does anyone have experience and/or an opinion regarding LOT? For some reason, I have always thought of it as a not very safe, not very good airline. I'm not sure where I got this impression or even it's true or not. Thx in advance for any info.

Why do you think of them as a not very safe airline? They have had a couple of fatal accidents with their old soviet planes, but none since 1989. So I see no reason to avoid them (or any other EEA-airline) for safety reasons.
They have however bought the 737 Max so parts of their short haul fleet is grounded.

We flew them Chicago to Warsaw and return in 2013. New 787 Dreamliner. No problems. They're a partner with United and Lufthansa so some flights might be code-shared. No international airline could survive in this competitive environment if they're unsafe.

Their business class isn't great (but it's not relevant for most leisure travellers), but otherwise they're fine and can offer great fares.

Thanks all, for your replies. Badger, as I said, I don't know where I got the idea that it was not a safe airline, just something I have always thought, but now I know better.
