My suitcase never made it to our most recent European vacation. After spending hours dealing with the airline and insurance company while on vacation and back home, it appears we have to file claims with both the airline and insurance company for delay of baggage and lost baggage. Since the date of loss, September 14, we have been receiving conflicting information from the airline. Does anyone have any tips for dealing with this extremely frustrating situation.

Hope you don't mind my asking - which airline? and where were you flying to / from?
First, have you filled any claims? Second, you file first with the airlines and then with the insurance company or both together. And, of course, you will need documentation of lost. Most insurance policy will off set what you received from the airlines. In insurance world theory -- you cannot make money on the deal -- no double dipping. And you may not get replacement value - depends on policy, most do not.
Prevent it from happening in the first place. Pack light and carry on, only.
I know Lee but that is not the question. We always check coming home so we don't have lug around any luggage. Easier that way.
Where do lost bags end their journeys?
That was my question also - which airline and what was the route?
(I think lost luggage and its contents winds up Unclaimed Baggage in Scottsboro, Alabama.)
Where do lost bags.go at the end of their journey?
They go to the Lost Baggage Store in Scottsboro. No kidding. They buy lost and unclaimed airline luggage.
Happy Update! After 35 days my suitcase arrive in tact at home at 9:45 p.m. last Thursday night. I wish it could talk! Feeling very lucky. Now have to continue the struggle for expenses incurred.
If only your suitcase could talk and tell us about its travel adventure.
You never answered the question -- which airline lost your luggage and now returned it 35 days later? If you want remuneration advice, we have to know which airline.
