Los Angeles to Brussels / Florence to Los Angeles

Does anyone have any info on how to cut the cost of my flight from LAX to BRU 7/23/08 and return from FLR to LAX 8/31/08? So far the cheapest rate is $1217. Is this a great, good, okay or bad price?
