Hi,
We will be traveling from Rome to Amalfi July 15 and returning to Rome on July 18th. I'd like to book both the train and ferry tickets in advance and 'on line".
Since the goal is, because of limited time, to get to Amalfi in an easy, relaxed, efficient way, while seeing some of the coastline on the way, it looks like the most direct route would be to take a trian from Rome to Salerno and then from Salerno to catch the ferry to Amalfi and reverse everything for the return trip. I'm looking for some feedback as to whether or not this is a good way to go
Also, would like some feed back on the booking the train and ferry tickets, again, in advance and "on line". From my research so far, it looks like there are a number of competing companies/sites to book rail tickets. The one that to me , seems most user friendly so far is italianrail.com. In addition, the site I found to buy ferry tickets is
http://www.amalficoastweb.com/amalfi/english/bus_ferries.html
Appreciate any feedback and guidance on the above.
Happy travels,
Ed
