Long Term Car Lease from Renault

I am thinking of leasing a car for my 2 month 2011 trip to Italy. Two companies: Ideamerge & UK and Europe Travel gave me quotes. Its almost to good to be true. Has anyone leased a car before? Is this all it claims to be?

Maria, I've just completed the paperwork and paid the deposit to Renault Eurodrive for a Clio Estate in April. I asked your exact question a month ago on both the RS and Fodors sites - "is this too good to be true?" All answers came back that it is truly as easy as it sounds. I called the Eurodrive people in NJ and asked lots of detailed questions. Their answers were all consistent and good. From what I can tell, bottom line, Renault receives significant tax advantages by providing this program. So far, this process is far cleaner than any European car rental I've ever done.

I did a long term lease through AutoEurope. It was easy. All expenses, including full insurance and taxes were in the quote. The lease prices are based on pick up/drop off in France. To pick up or drop off in another country they have an additional charge.

We did a lease with Renault. It worked out great. We picked up in A'dam and dropped in Rome. Even with the pick up/drop off charges it was a great deal. Full CDW insurance is included in the price (rather than an add on as with rentals). I would gladly do it again.

In A'dam we were met by an agent who took us to the dealership, after signing papers and getting some how-to on the car (no key) we were off and running.

In Rome the agent wasn't at his kiosk in the airport and it took better than an hour to track him down (typical Italy). Fortunately, we weren't catching a flight that day - just training into town to spend our final week.

If we are to pu and drop off at airport in Rome, how would that work? Would we have to somehow track down an agent? The quote we got from EuroCar TT, leasing Citroen cars, claims they are at the airport. Is there a big upfront deposit not listed? or any other "catches?" We also have a quote from Hertz rental and cost is much higher than lease price.

Anita, FCO is a major airport. They (Renault Eurodrive) have an office on an industrial park near the airport. When you arrive to pick up your car, they will either be waiting for you with a sign or give you a local number for you to call. Then a van comes and takes you to their garage. When you are returning a car, you drive to their garage and a shuttle van takes you to the terminal.
