long layover at LAX

Looking at flights to Lima, Peru (for 2024) and we can get a one stop from Anchorage using miles for cheap. However, there is a long 15 hour layover and I'm wondering if LAX has a hotel connected that you could pay for a room?

When we lived on the central coast we stayed at numerous airport hotels a short (10-15 min) shuttle ride away when we had an early flight. I’d say just look at Google maps and pick one where you like the brand and price. They have an extensive, free shuttle system to get people to and from the airport. We didn’t really have a favorite, they were all business type hotels that got the job done.

Edit: in looking at the LAX website I only see this list of nearby hotels. So I’d still start with Google maps to make sure it is one of the many, many nearby hotels and then check this list and the hotel’s website to check things like restaurant on site, current shuttle status etc.

Hi Mona, thanks, but some airports actually have a hotel inside the airport so you don't have to exit security (Chicago O'hare). I guess my question was not clear, but that is what we are seeking.

AFAIK LAX doesn’t have a hotel in any of its 7-8 terminals unless they added one in the past 6 years since we moved. The flylax link above doesn’t indicate any on site hotels. Sorry

I flew into and out of LAX very recently. There is no hotel within the terminals. However there are a multitude of hotels within a 10-15 minute shuttle ride. Most if not all the airport vicinity hotels offer a shuttle. I think pretty much all of the common hotel chains are represented. Check booking.com for choices, prices, on site eateries etc.

No hotels at or connected to Hell on Earth, my name for LAX.

Cab rides away, you’ll find a Hilton, a Marriot, a Hyatt Regency, Travel Lodge, Sheraton and other hotel properties.

However these days you need to board a shuttle bus to get to the taxi stand.

Best to ask the hotel you choose if they have free shuttles to and from their location.

The above list is mostly downtown hotels, 11 and 12 miles away unless the close by ones aren’t loading correctly. Just go to Google maps and look at the hotels within 1/2 mile which will be a 10 minute shuttle ride away.

No hotels on the airport grounds.

The following hotels are within a mile or so of LAX and I believe offer shuttle services:

Hyatt Regency LAX

Courtyard by Marriott

H Hotel Curio Collection (Hilton)

Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles

Sonesta LAX

Los Angeles Airport Marriott

Four Points by Sheraton LAX

Renaissance LAX

Hyatt Place LAX

Hyatt House LAX

Embassy Suites

Westin LAX

Hilton LAX

There are more but that should be enough to get you started.

The LAX Hilton is one mile away. There is a shuttle between the airport and the hotel. We made use of it a few years ago. There are no hotels located physically in the airport.

It was in 2016 or 2017 and we stayed at the 4 Points Sheraton. At the time there was a shuttle every 30 minutes for what should be a 5 minute drive, but even LAX has traffic nightmares and it took about half an hour once we were on the shuttle. We stayed there because we had 36 hours to kill and it was across the street from a Budget Rental Car. The hotel was good enough, but not great.

Are you going to Machu Pichu?

@Allan-yes we are going to hit up Machu Picchu while in Peru!😜⛰️⛰️

Thanks everyone, rethinking flight options now. I was just so excited I could get all the way from Anchorage to Lima, Peru in one stop and 25,000 miles!

A handful of business class hotels I linked above indicate they have rooms bookable for day use. For those good mileage fares maybe you could leave the airport and stay about 10h at a hotel with a restaurant and services. You’d need to be back at the international terminal at least 3 hours before your flight to Peru. If you consider this option let us know and I can take a closer look at the hotels to see if I’d recommend any of them for a day stay.
