Long Car Rental in Europe

Hello. I will be working in Bamberg Germany, then in Istanbul and then in Paris from August until late October. I will have some time between each country to do some touring with my wife. We would like to have a car for this whole trip and give the car back when we arrive in Paris. Is there any way to do this? Are there some good companies on the web where I could check in to the rates, etc?

Thanks so much!

Others will suggest lease/buy-back programs. I only go for a month or so at a time, but I do it frequently, and have consistently found that rental is more economical than anything else. Investigate and decide.

Driving to Istanbul could be problematic with any program. It's a long hike. More importantly, the agencies from whom you might get a vehicle could very well have prohibitions against driving in some of the countries involved. I've explored the concept a couple of times and given up on it.

I think the upper end on the lease deals is 6 months (I suppose after that you are looking at a regular lease). Purchasing a used car, then selling before you leave might be the best way to go. You wouldn't have to worry about restrictions on where you can drive and the insurance you buy for the car is regular insurance.
