London to Salzburg: Ryanair direct or LH to MUC?

Traveling in December, I need to book a flight from London to Salzburg and I have two options (it's for a Saturday): 1) Lufthansa from London Gatwick to Munich + about 3hrs train (Bayern ticket), arriving in Salzburg after 8pm. This is available to book now at a reasonable price. 2) Ryanair direct from London Stanstead to Salzburg, arriving before 6pm. Unfortunately, Ryanair's "winter season" starts in November, so this Dec. flight isn't bookable yet. My Qs: - When do you think Ryanair will be loading their "winter" flights? - In your opinion, what should I do: buy LH now to Munich while the price is still good? Or wait to see if the Ryanair flight gets loaded into the next "winter" schedule and becomes bookable? Thanks for your input!

Thanks Lee. We'll be staying not far from Victoria Station and I think that there are frequent buses to Stanstead from there. If the Ryanair flight keeps to the existing schedule, we would need to be in Stanstead by around noon. I'm really curious as to when Ryanair plans on loading their "winter" schedule...

Lufthansa will hopefully have a bit better customer service and comfort than Ryanair, and you won't have to print out your own boarding pass in advance.

Make sure you understand the ramifications (time and cost) of flying out of Stansted. It's a long ways out of London with limited options for getting to the airport. The trip from Munich Airport to Salzburg by regional train takes just over 2½ hours, but there is just one RE per hour, so there might be some wait time. The train takes you directly in to Salzburg Hbf. If you fly, you still have transportation from the airport into town.

I don't see where RyanAir is flying there in December. EasyJet flies to Salzburg out of London Luton and Gatwick. Monarch, Thomas Cook and British Airways flies out of Gatwick.
I'd wait a while before booking, as the trip's still 8 months out. There are not a shortage of flights or airlines.

The Ryanair flights for December have not been loaded yet. The Easyjet flight is too early to be realistically possible. I did make a mistake: the LH flight is from Heathrow, which also has a BA option as well. Thanks David. Although a direct to Salzburg would be nice (our host would arrange an airport pick-up), Philip is right: LH would probably be a better value/experience...
