London to Paris via Eurostar

I will be traveling this route this summer but haven't done it before. It looks like there are closets or shelves or some other storage area in each car for luggage. How secure are those areas or should I have some sort of lock for my bag? I tried to book my seat close to the storage area so I can keep an eye on my bag, but would rather enjoy the passing scenery. Thanks!!

If you are packing light and have only a carry-on sized bag (plus a day pack, perhaps), the bag will fit on the rack above your seat. If you need to put it on a shelf at the end of the car, then it's a good idea to use small locks to secure the zippers and a bicycle-style cable lock to secure the bag to the shelf.

Follow Tim's advice. We always a use retractable cable lock to secure our bags to the overhead or to something solid in the bid. Although given the security you have to go through to get on the Eurostar, I doubt if you would have any problem with the hop on/off thief that you might encounter on regular trains.

Thanks!! I didn't realize there was an overhead rack, that's all I will need as I'm only bringing a carry on bag. I appreciate your input!
