We are going to pre-tour in London. Is there a "best" way to get to Ghent for the "Belgium and Holland tour in 11 days". Looking for a "chunnel" or other train as first preference. How close can we get to Ghent and how much time is needed?
Eurostar will sell you a ticket from London St. Pancras to 'Any Belgian Station' - see this page on their website. When booking your tickets on the Eurostar website, type in 'Any Belgian Station' as your destination.
The Eurostar will take you as far as Brussels Midi, change there for Gent St. Pieters, which is about a 30 minute journey. If you got the 06.50 from St. Pancras you could be in Gent by 10.45 (and that includes the hour time difference).
It is rather easy to arrive in Gent from London. Take an Eurostar to Bruxelles-Midi and then a domestic direct train to Gent. Easy as that. Buy a ticket London-any Belgian station, which allows you to travel onward from Bruxelles-Midi on any train to Gent.
