Planning to fly from London to Amsterdam and note that EasyJet departs from both airports. Is one easier to deal with than the other? Thanks!
I would go with Gatwick instead. It's easier to reach via the Gatwick Express train and regular local trains via Victoria Station. Fares will be slightly higher out of Gatwick but IMO it's worth it.
Unfortunatly the flights out of Gatwick are considerably higher than those out of the smaller airports.
I haven't been to Luton but Stansted wasn't a problem. We took the National Express bus from Stansted to London Victoria Station--if I remember correctly it took about 1 1/2 hours. For us, the difference between flying into Stansted (from Venice) and Gatwick was worth the inconvenience--might not work for everyone.
Mel...six of one...half a dozen of the other. Both are connected to downtown London by express bus and train, although at Luton you have to take the frequent shuttle bus abut 5 minutes to the train station. I prefer the train (even tho it's the most expensive) since it'll bypass any traffic jams..and I've been caught in some wicked ones...not a good thing when trying to catch a flight!;) Check the train schedules, too. Some to Luton are more "express" than others. Journey times by rail are about 45 minutes to Stansted (from the Liverpool street station...a little out of the way), and about 30 minutes to Luton, plus 5-10 minutes on the shuttle. See http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/luton.htm and http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/stansted.htm for all the options.
Stansted is a nice little airport, very easy to find your way around in. The bus arrival/departure is right at the front door, too. If you are traveling on to Heathrow from there, it's about a 90 minute trip to LHR from Stansted.
Luton has the one bag only policy... no carry on AND personal item.
Both are easy to connect to but if you take a coach to Luton the advantage to a train is that you arrive at the airport instead of the train station and transfer to a shuttle to the airport.
