London - Paddington or Waterloo?

I'll be staying at a hotel near the British Museum in Bloomsbury. I need to take a train to Yeovil, Somerset at about 9 AM on a Monday morning and found that there are trains from both Paddington and Waterloo that can take me to there. Although the train from Waterloo is cheaper, I'm a bit concerned about how long it will take me to get to the station at 9 AM on a Monday. Does anyone have any idea about how long it would take to get to those stations at that time of day from the British Museum?

I'd leave an hour for the journey to either station in case of problems. There will definitely be tube trains on both routes at 8 am although trains will be busy. I would suggest for Paddington take the northbound Piccadilly Line from Russell Square to Kings Cross and then the Circle or Hammersmith & City Line. For Waterloo take the Piccadilly Line southbound to Leicester Square and then the Northern Line southbound to Waterloo.

Thanks. I'm assuming that a cab would take just as long at that time of day?

Waterloo is a bit closer plus I think the tube route is easier. The actual tube ride is only about 20 minutes, but I agree with prior suggestion to allow an hour. There is walking at both ends, plus it is good to allow some time in case there is a delay. Either Holborn or Russell Square would work. You can check the route planner on tfl.gov.uk.

At that time of the morning you will need a peak time ticket on the Underground. Another route to Paddington is Piccadilly Line southbound to Piccadilly, change to the Bakerloo Line northbound to Paddington.
