London Heathrow (LHR) closed all day

Heathrow Airport is closing all day Friday because of a large fire at a nearby electrical substation that supplies it

The airport closure is expected to last until 23:59

Heathrow, the UK's busiest airport, has warned of "significant disruption" over the coming days and told passengers not to travel "under any circumstances" until it reopens

At least 1,351 flights to and from Heathrow will be affected by Friday's closure, according to flight tracking website Flightradar24

Do not assume that since your flight was not to or from Heathrow this will not affect you. It’s going to have a ripple effect that may impact numerous other flights as planes and crews wind up in the wrong place because of this.

the BBC has reported that Heathrow has said that a limited number of flights may operate this evening, and they hope to have a full or nearly full schedule tomorrow.

We wait and see...

Planes diverted earlier today to LGW and MAN are being repositioned back to LHR.
