I have a London Travel Card.. instead of always using Tube I want to try the bus.. Do I get on in front and show driver the card or is there a machine I [INVALID] card into? Also, do they announce or show the stop names as we go along?

If the Travelcard is a daily one on a cardboard ticket you need to get on at the front and show it to the driver. If it is a period one on an Oyster card you have to touch in. Most London buses nowadays have both visual and audio announcements of the next stop.
