Our familly is planning to be in europe in June for two weeks. Our plan is to fly in to London and leaving back to the USA from London also. We would like to go to London, bruges and Amsterdam and will like to know what is the best way to do it. We are a familly of four, mom dad and two daugthers.
You can reach Bruges easily from Amsterdam- even do it as a day trip
I would definitely do the London-Bruges or Bruges-London leg by train depending on what order you want to do it. Book at www.eurostar.com: depending on the whim of the site you may get cheaper tickets if you "any Belgian station" instead of "Bruges" as your destination/start point. You will have to change at Brussels Midi: be aware that there is a minimum of 30 minutes to check into the Eurostar at both London and Brussels. Tickets on domestic Belgian trains are not train specific so you can get any train between Brussels and Bruges, but your Eurostar journey may be limited to a specific train, especially if you get a cheaper fare. London-Amsterdam or vice-versa is a bit longer by train and it may be worth flying if you can get a rock-bottom fare (but beware charges for luggage etc). Especially if you can connect to/from the US at the same London airport. Other people will hopefully chip in on the best place to buy London-Amsterdam rail as I haven't done that myself.
Thank you very much.
Eurostar now offers through fares from London to Amsterdam. Its on the push list currently. Have a look at http://www.eurostar.com . Returns (round trips) from £99 pp.
