Which is the best way to travel from Heathrow to my central London hotel? Which shuttle service offers the best rates?
I am the mind reader on this site - ummmmm where does she want to go ??? and how much does she want to spend ???? Ah I have it. Take the tube from Heathrow to Victoria station. That is the cheapest and slowest way. Second, take Heathrow Express to Paddington much faster and more expensive. Once there either take a cab to your hotel or another subway to the hotel. How about asking your hotel for a suggested route?
Except that the Heathrow Express isn't always the fastest way to get into the city. If the hotel is located anywhere between Earls Court and St Pancras along the Piccadilly Line (where a good chunk of the hotels are located), the tube will always be faster.
Central London encompasses a large area. Which hotel are you staying at?
What Michael says. BTW, once you have said, its unlikely you will receive a suggestion for a shuttle, much more likely a good public transport plan. Also, time of day and day of week would help us help you. I assume you have researched the problem with your copy of Rick Steves' London or a similar book?
Im near Russell square and in the Bloomsbury area. Also, we arrive about 12:00 noon on a Friday
Unless you have a LOT of luggage, or a lot of people, take the Piccadilly line tube to Russell Square. Cost: 5 GBP, I believe.
The Tube would work just fine for me. However, since you asked about a private car service, I'd recommend Just Airports. They give a discount for paying in cash. Your hotel is in postal code NW1. The fare for a saloon (sedan) from Heathrow to anywhere in that postal code is £32.00.
Thanks everyone for your helpful responses. I'm leaning toward taking the Tube since I will be purchasing an Oyster card which I've been told can be used for transportation from Heathrow.
