London Airfare: Should I Buy?

I want to go to London next January. Right now, the best price I can get is something around 515$US (for YUL to LGW) with Delta. I've never traveled that time of the year so I could get some help to figure out when it is best to buy. I wouldn't mind paying that price actually but I'd be disappointed if it goes down a lot after I buy. The fare is of 342$ before taxes.

Vanessa....with the rising cost of energy, food, and just about everything else, $515 sounds like a pretty good deal, especially from a Canadian airport. If you haven't already, check kayak.com to see if anything else comes up. Travelling Tues-Thurs will also likely get you a cheaper price. You may also want to consider Burlington, Vermont (BTV) as a departure airport...it may lengthen the time of the journey, but you may save some money, and it's only a 2-hour drive (closer than my place!) Long-term parking's about $6.75/day. As a reference, Air Transat wants $728 for early January, YUL-LGW.

I would wait longer before booking a January trip The special fares aren;t usually oisted until the Fall. Would travel to/from Boston be very inconvenient for you. I ask because Virgin flies from Boston and they always offer very good fares for Jan. Right now, for example, they are offering $138. each way from NY/LHR. This fare is only good until some date in May . But that is a terrific fare.
I say WAIT!!!

I wouldn't play the wait-and-see game in this market. If you have a time mapped out that works for you, and have found a fare that you can afford, go for it. What you pay for the fare will be a distant memory in the overall scheme of things when your trip is done.

Have a great trip!

That is a really good fare. You need to balance the fare with the fact that you will be locked into the ticket this far in advance. Also, if you need to change it, you will have to pay something like $200.
