London Airfare

Should we be snapping up a just-under $1000 roundtrip fare mid-summer on a Major US airline? Will fares go down more in the next month?

Just curious....what airline? Or is this a blind bid on somewhere like Priceline?

One could expect to pay approx. $1300-$1400 RT from STL to LHR in July, for example, so your fare sounds like a good one. The real question is whether or not you think it's an acceptable fare for you. If so, buy it before it goes away. As for prices going down in the next month for mid-summer travel, my guess is that it's unlikely, but nobody knows for sure. Do your research, set an acceptable price for you, track fares online, and buy it as soon as you see one that meets all of your needs, including price. That's my best advice.

Just under $1,000 is a very good price, especially out of a city like St. Louis with no direct flights to Europe. I would buy that ticket in a second.

Thanks so much for the input - it helps those of us who are less used to purchasing big fares online. It simply says "Major Carrier," which makes me nervous. My husband's quicker to jump on the cheapest thing he can find than I so I'm concerned. Does anyone know if "Major Carrier" means truly a major air carrier? We had a bit of a bad experience with bad weather last summer, missing a flight connection and then absolutely no one in Brussels to take care of several different carrier's worth of stranded.
I'm also wondering if anyone else has had the experience of not being treated particularly respectfully as and "economy" class traveller. It was a carrier from a different culture than the US.
