The two of us would like to find inexpensive ground transportation, e.g., a shuttle bus or train,from Livorno port to Florence and return. We only have the one day in port so convenience is a factor.

There are hourly regional trains from Livorno to Firenze departing at ten minutes past the hour. The trip takes 1hr23min and the fare is 6.60 EUR. For timetables and fares go to the Trenitalia site. To see the fares for regional trains enter a date within the next few days.

Don, The ship usually has a shuttle that takes you to Plaza Grande..from there you buy a ticket and take bus number 1 which takes you to the train. The fair is reasonable. It sounds a little complicated but it really isn't. (once you do it) Just give youself plenty of time to get back to the ship.
