Just returned from 2+ weeks in Portugal, had read so many dire stories about chaos at the Lisbon airport, but have to say it wasn't as awful as I was expecting. Granted for coming home we did have a flight cancelled, another rerouted, rebooked twice, missed a connection, had to spend a night near Dulles airport ... but we got home. One thing I'll say is that we used Fast Track at the Lisbon airport to get through security faster, that was quite helpful, seemed worth the 9 EUR apiece.
I was tipped off to Fast Track (think TSA pre-check) by a friend, and wasn't sure if it would be worth it. All you get to skip is some of the security, but if you've stood forever in a check-in or baggage check line, and you know you have to stand in the customs line, any bit of time saved seemed helpful. I was really looking forward to just sailing on through that bit, but wound up in a check-in line anyway after Air Canada changed all of our flights.
And yes the e-gates were marvelous!
so what is this Fastrack if it doesnt help with passport control?
It's equivalent to tsa precheck. Handy if the regular security line is backed up. Booked it through the airport's website.
Is there Fast Track at Heathrow?
