LHR 12 hour layover

Hi,

I am asking this question for a friend who is flying from the US west coast to Africa with a 12 hour layover at LHR in April. His checked baggage is being transferred to his connecting flight to Africa. He is arriving early in the morning at LHR. Would he have time to pop into London and see a little bit during that 12 hour period factoring in deplaning from the US flight, going through immigration and then going through security upon return to the airport? He will have a carryon with him which I think he can store at the LHR terminal. Thanks for your help.

There is a bus- the Greenline 703- runs from Terminal 5 only ie- not the Central Bus Station at T 2/3. But plenty of internal ways to transfer there if not landing and/or departing from T5.
Takes about 45 minutes there, on a basic hourly schedule.

Don’t assume that he can store luggage at the airport. I work at the MInneapolis airport and there is NO storage of luggage anywhere inside the airport. Plus the airlines there won’t usually check luggage more than 3-4 hours before a flight. Better check on the situation at LHR.

@renee I checked the LHR website and there is luggage storage at all the terminals for up to 90 days for a fee, of course.
