We are embarking on a rather extensive road trip through the UK. We'll have a rental car for 32 days. At one point, after we are in Bath for a week, we will be going in to London for 3 nights. We don't want to take the car and drive in London. Also we'll be travelling with some family at that point including a 3 year old child. There's an issue with room in the car for 4 adults, luggage and a child seat. So...we are considering leaving the car in Bath for the 4 days, taking the train in to London, then returning to Bath (just the 2 of us) and picking up the car to continue our trip. Does anyone have a suggestion about where we could leave the rental car for 4 days? Is there long term parking at the Bath Spa station? Is there a more economical place to leave the car? Any other suggestions about what we might do? I suppose we could take the family to the train station and the 2 of us could drive closer in to London before leaving the car but that seems complicated... Any suggestions?
have you asked your hotel /b&B?
Dick, the link you provided is good, but there is no sticker. It is simply an online transaction. Penalties are severe if the charge is not paid by the end of the next charging day. If you are sure that you will be in the Zone during a charging period you can buy in advance or after the fact as long as paid by the end of the next charging day. Don't miss paying though.
I don't know about renting a car for 4 days but if you ever have need of a good minicab company try http://cabreviews.co.uk/islington. It helped me a lot. Thanks
Hi, sorry I have to totally totally disagree with an earlier post...DO NOT, drive in London. I cannot stree this enough!
Not only the congestion charge
Massive congestion
No need surely black cabs the tube red London buses are part of any visit to London
Parking where and how expensive!
Rude and aggressive drivers only in London! Not the rest of UK
Why would anyone want to drive in London ? Listen trust me, I am was a police advanced driving and pursuit instructor I have 30 yrs experience in this and I would not drive in London unless I really had to! You will be cut up shouted at horn blown at you, confused, have near accidents..why put yourself through the stress when black cabs, the tube and red London busses are part of the experience.
