Learned something new about Rome FCO transportation !

After visiting Rome 5 times and staying in different areas of town for each trip, we found the Airport Shuttle Bus.

This bus leaves the airport and for 6 euros and 40 minutes of driving time, you get dropped off or picked up by the Castel San'Angelo.

This made it so fast and cheap to get to lodging on that side of Rome. I can't believe I never knew there was an airport shuttle bus !

Carla, we've taken a coach-type airport bus (there are several operators, and they don't all drop off at the same places) to Termini from FCO. It's a safe, comfortable, inexpensive option if you're not in a big hurry! As with any road transit, heavy traffic or accidents can cause slowdowns.

More info here:

Tickets are sold at kiosks/offices right outside baggage claim at the airport.

Wow! I didn't know about these either. Thanks, Carla and Kathy. We like to stay in the Termini area, so Kathy's suggestion is more relevant for us.

What was enlightening about this discovery is that it gives an added transport option.

We always looked at going directly into Termini on the Leonardo Express and then getting transport to our lodging.

We loved staying at Hotel Due Torri on this trip and we arrived there so quickly after we left FCO.

You're welcome! And Carla, I'll agree that they're nice alternatives to trains, taxis, and hotel shuttles that could have quite a few drop-offs 'round the city before arriving at yours. Anyone else interested in the buses, do investigate the info provided by each company on their individual pick-up and drop-off points.
