I am researching flights for a May/June trip and am looking at flight options with easily-adequate layover times. One of the return options I see has a 1:55 layover in Brussels (PRG to ORD flight). I’ve never flown to or through Brussels—is this amount of time doable?
Is this on one ticket?
Nearly two hours is well over the 70 minute minimum connection time for Brussels' airport, and seems to me an ideal layover length, as long as your flight is a single ticket. Single ticket means that you will not have to exit and re-enter the secure area to check in for your next flight; single ticket is the default so it should be very obvious from your ticket or booking if this is not the case. In case there is a delay, single ticket is an assurance that you'll be put on the next flight.
This would be a single ticket—I always try to book single tickets. Arrive on Brussels Airlines and depart United.
Personally I would not run two single tickets with less than two hours. Too many variables that you cannot control. If it was a single ticket, I would do it. Five hours is about my min for separate tickets. And I was burned once with a five hour layover when the original flight was cancelled. No amount of layover will protect you in that situation. :Lost the next leg fortunately it was a fairly cheap ticket.
Since we will be exiting the Schengen zone, it looks like the e-gates should save us time as well. Also, we will arrive at Brussels shortly after 8:00, which may or may not be a factor.
