Layover in Toronto

So I have a 5 hour layover in Toronto before I depart for Paris. Do I have enough time to get lunch in the city? Thanks!

Dan, i don't think so. The airport is 30km from
downtown so at least 25-40 min depending on traffic
each way. The bus shuttle is not cheap around 33$
return.

Dan, we had a six hour layover in Toronto in April prior to our flight to Frankurt. We asked the girl at the information booth they same question you asked in this forum. She agreed with the above poster, didn't think we had enough time especially if there was any traffic. She did suggest a restaurant very near the aiport where we could take a short taxi ride. It was nice to get out of the airport and sit outside for a relaxing lunch knowing we didn't have to worry about traffic to get back to the airport. The restaurant also called a cab for us when we needed to return to the airport. I'm sorry I can't remember the name but if you ask at information, tell them it's the one where a lot of the airport employees go to (and I remember it was a one-word name). Have a wonderful trip.

Dan,
Toronto traffic is a nightmare, don't risk it.

Hi Dan, I was born and raised in Toronto. My recommendation is if you leave the airport...this is the timing of what to expect.

  • 30min-45min to get downtown & back...$45 taxi
  • recommend to be back at airport 2 hours before flight
  • not sure what day or time your flight is, but if there's an accident on the highway...look out

So really, you will only have 1 hour or so to get a bite.
