Layover in Munich airport

I am flying from Amsterdam to Ankara, Turkey, in July, and will have a layover in the Munich airport. The flight I am looking at has a layover of one hour. Is that enough time to get from one gate to the other? Will I have to go through customs in Munich, or does that not happen between EU countries? Thanks!

You will go thru customs in Munich as Turkey is outside of the Schengen zone. AMS to MUC is within the Schengen zone, hence considered domestic. Star Alliance carriers fly into T2 and changing there can be done in very short time.

I'm not sure you can say for sure you won't have to change terminals just by the airline and destination. In the past 3 years I have flow in and out of Munich, international and domestic flights, Lufthansa and others, all using T2, but before that I flew domestically on Lufthansa from T1. If you are staying within T2, you should be able to stay inside sucurity and just change gates. It's a long terminal but an hour should be enough. If it's all on one ticket, the airline(s) should accommodate a delayed arrival from Amsterdam.

If you have to change terminal, it would be a walk across the area in between (MAC) and going through security. Since you know the flight numbers, you can check for arrival and departure terminals at www.munich-airport.de/en. There are also maps on that website.

Y'all's answers seem to conflict a little. It makes sense to me that I would not have to go through customs in Munich, as I will only be there for a layover, not stopping, and since the Netherlands and Germany are both Schengen countries. But since I'm flying to Turkey, which is not part of the EU, I wasn't sure if that would affect the amount of time it takes me to connect to my Ankara flight in Munich.

Both flights I want are in the same terminal (thanks for the link, Lee!), so as long as nothing weird happens with customs, I should have enough time to make my flight to Ankara.

Can y'all think of any reason I should book an earlier flight to give myself more layover time? The flight I want is at 8:50 AM; the earlier one is at 7:15 AM. I really don't want to have to get to the airport at 5:00 in the morning, so if the 8:50 flight seems doable, I'd rather book that.

Thanks again!
