If I am flying Aer Lingus from Dulles to Gatwick with a layover and plane change in Dublin, which would you recommend, the 1 hr. 45 min. layover Aer Lingus has, or the 3 hour layover? I don't want to layover longer than necessary, but is the 1 hr. and 45 minutes enough time?

Go for the 3 hour lay over.
Flights can be delayed, etc. Why feel hurried if you don’t need to be.

You will go through immigration in Dublin. The flight to Gatwick will be like a domestic flight. You just get off the plane and go.
