In October, I'm flying to Barcelona, but I have a four hour layover at Aeroport Charles de Gaulle in Paris. A lot of information I've seen about CDG has to do with people flying to/from Paris as their final destination. Does anybody have advice about connecting flights? I've never been to France, and it seems like this is a difficult airport to get around.
We have not found that particular airport difficult to get around in. Just follow the signs and ask someone if you need help.
Ron,
With 4 hours, you have plenty of time to get to any gate plus ample time to people watch. Just don't get any ideas about trying to leave the airport for any quick sightseeing.
I also have not found it difficult, just very large. Rather than dawdling because you have 4 hours (which is plenty of time), head through passport control and on toward your next terminal when you arrive. Once your goal is in sight, you can feel more comfortable about picking up lunch, using the ATM, etc.
I've had CDG as a destination and as a layover.....many times. Four hours is plenty of time. Personally, I agree with the advice to head over to your destination terminal and look around once you get there.
You should be fine. See if through research on the airlines' websites, you can figure out which terminal(s) you're headed into and out of. Then go to the Aéroports de Paris website and check out your options for getting between them. Of course there will be signage once you arrive at the airport to tell you how to get between terminals (if it's necessary), but since you have the time, it might be nice to familiarize yourself ahead of time. Then you'll know whether you're looking at just a stroll between close-together terminals, or whether you'll catch the airport tramline between terminals that are further away, etc.
Unfortunately I find the AdP website harder and harder to use as they "upgrade" and "modernize" it . . . but check the "Access" tab at their site:
easycdg.com is a good resource.
If you can figure out how to get into an Air France Lounge, they are absolutely worth it!
