LAX-CDG-FLR on Delta travel advice

next week I’ll be flying Delta from LAX to CDG then transferring to Air France to fly to FLR with a 2 hour and 15 minute layover. Has anyone done this route before?

I am trying to decide if I will be able to check a bag or if I need to condense to carry on only. I’m seeing conflicting information on if my bag will be checked through to Florence or if I’ll have to get it from baggage claim in Paris and re-check it.
My flights were booked as a single trip, with one confirmation number.

any advice on navigating CDG and getting through customs? Is 2 hours enough time?

any tips are much appreciated for this first time international traveler!

Delta and Air France are partners. Since you purchased the flights on a single ticket you should be able to check a bag through to Florence. At Paris CDG you will go through passport control and possibly a security screening. Customs is country specific. Unless you have something to declare you walk through the “nothing to declare” lane when exiting baggage claim area. It’s never happened to me. But there’s a small chance that you may get selected for a random check.

Have a fun trip!

You don't pick up your bags until your final destination on this one-ticket itinerary. You will stay airside, bur as Rocket said, there will be a security as you enter the terminal for your second flight.

Be warmed that Air France's carryon size is smaller than Delta's.

I've never had a connecting at CDG of more than 90 minutes. I've never missed a connecting. I have heard of people that have difficulty, but we have not. The last few times I've been thru CDG, it seems there has been an effort with people and signage to direct people thru the airport. I believe they were in orange vests?? If your ticket is connected all the way thru to FLR, then if you miss your flight, its up to the airline to get you on another.
