late train voucher

We received an envelope from SNCF after arriving over 30 minutes late from Bayeaux to Paris. I'm wondering what compensation they are offering and if it is worth mailing it in. All the instructions are in french, as is the SNCF web site.

Try an online translator for some of the text. I've used Google for a few things and webpages. Online translations often come out a bit clunky, but you understand enough to get the main point.

I know this doesn't quite answer your question, but hopefully someone who's been in this situation before writes back. I don't consider myself an authority on this subject...

The form should be filled out (use a translator like babelfish.yahoo.com for unfamiliar words) and mailed back....you should have the envelope with the address. You have to include the ticket with the form. You will get back a voucher for a percentage of your ticket price. The voucher you should get back in 6 to 8 weeks is supposedly valid for a year from the date of issue, but you can't use it to buy tickets on the web....only at train stations or SCNF or agent ticket offices. It's probably 25 to 30% of the value of your ticket, depending on which train you took.
