Last ferry route from Britain to Scandinavia to close

The Harwich Esbjerg ferry is closing.

"The UK's only ferry link to Scandinavia is to close for good, marking the "the end of an era", its operator says.
The route between Harwich, Essex and Esbjerg in Denmark, run by DFDS Seaways, has been in operation for nearly 140 years.
Stena Line runs a ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland. The line has seen an increase in passenger numbers in recent years

European budget airlines will be picking up the slack. It'll be cheaper to fly, as it's just so much more efficient and faster.

It's the budget airlines, and Eurostar who are undercuting the ferries. These ferries cater for commercial vehicles and people taking their own cars over, not foot passengers. So if you want to drive to Denmark you now have to go the long way around.
