How long does it take by ferry from Lake Como to Varenna? And what is the cost?
Thanks, Maria
Marie, Varenna is ON Lake Como. Perhaps you are asking about a ferry from the town of Como to Varenna?
See Swan's answer. Rick's book and DVD and TV shows about Lake Como are 100% about the mid-lake area that includes Varenna and Bellagio. Rick is not enthusiastic about the Town of Como (and we can't go anywhere that Rick doesn't like, right?).
Maria, if you're going to Varenna, train is probably the easiest method. Rick's Italy book has all the details.
Happy travels!
yup, my mistake, I am now in Florence and thinking to visit milan, varenna and como in one day.
Maria, while it might be feasible, visiting all three locations in one day might be a bit "ambitious"? You wouldn't really be able to see much in any of the locations.
Cheers!
Maria: Same answer as Ken, people do Varenna on Lake Como as a day trip from Milan. You are the first person here to propose doing Milan and Lake Como both as a day trip in one day from Florence. Suggest you take the 10 mins to figure out the travel times before deciding if you want to do that--know before you go.
I don’t mean to be “ambitious”, I wanna visit three places in a day because I am just a student with limited budget; I am trying not to spare money on hotel or hostel. Anyway, I will arrive Milan in early morning at 7am and heading back to Florence by night train. Thinking it's capable to visit Como and Milan in a day.
Maria, is there something in particular that you want to see in Milan (The Last Supper)? You might consider dropping Milan and concentrating on Lago di Como. With careful planning you should be able to visit Varenna and Bellagio on a day trip, and have enough time to have a bit of a look around in each place, without rushing too much.
Just a thought.....
Cheers!
I just want to see the Duomo of Milan, and walk around a bit, that's it. By the way, thanks for all the advices. =)
