We are traveling from Interlaken to Lake Como. What is the best form of transportation and where is the best place to stay that is the easiest to travel to? I'm thinking about Bellagio, Varenna, or Menaggio. Thoughts?

Several options.
Take the train to Luzern then a train to Lugano (probably with a change at Arth-Goldau). From Lugano, take a bus to Menaggio. From Menaggio you can get a ferry to Bellagio and Varenna.
Another option is to stay on the train to Como, then bus or ferry to Bellagio.
To Varenna, easiest to take the train to Spiez, then a train to Milano Centrale, then a train to Varenna.
