hi - i am travelling from ljubljana to bled by bus. then from bled to venice, by train - leaving from bled jezero. my train leaves bled at 4:23 am. is anyone familiar enough with this station to know if it will be open at this time? i wont be stopping there on my way to bled as im arriving by bus. id hate to show up at 4:00 am and find out i cant purchase a ticket because theres no one there at that early hour.
I left on the same route in Nov. In was a sunday and we left at 9:50 am. The station was unmanned. I would buy the tickets in Ljubljana before getting on the bus.
also make sure you can get to the train station! i missed the train once on a school holiday because the bus service is not available, so you better check the bus schedule one day before your trip. also make sure you know it's the train station not near the lake. there is another train station called lacie bled on the hill behind the boating club, you don't want to go to the wrong train station.
thank you both for your responses! i didnt even realize i could buy a ticket at ljubljana. david - i was planning on taking a cab just to be sure. when i get there, ill figure out if this is a reliable way or if i should just suck it up and walk. better to be safe than sorry!
Taxi is an excellent idea. We took one from Lake Bled and it cost less than 15 euros if I remember. Took about 10 minutes.
this is the one time during my trip where i am allowing myself a taxi. just the time frame of leaving at 4:23 am, and the next train not being until four hours later, has me convinced this is the way to go. its totally worth the splurge.
