Kudos to United

United notified me of a schedule change for my European flight in September that required three legs on my return rather than two. Online, I found I could get the original schedule two days later. However, the fine print on their "one free change" said you could only move the flight one day. I called United and just asked what fees would be involved to change my flight by two days. The agent changed it for free! I just have to stay in Italy for two more days - awwwww.

Darn, eh? It's a sacrifice you'll just have to grin and bear.

Not to jinx myself, but so far I have found United agents very easy to work with for last year's trip and June's.

Janet, enjoy your trip!

It’s so nice to read such a positive post for one of our legacy airlines. It’s nice to hear the United agents were so accommodating and helpful! We had two trips to Europe and home last summer on United and found them the same. And oh, poor you….having to stay in Italy an extra two days!

I wonder what the odds are they don't change it again before mid September?!?

Wow, thanks for posting a positive post.

Enjoy your extra days in Italy!

Hopefully there won’t be any more changes to your flights.

Janet, based on my experience, United will change something at least several times more. So far I’ve had major changes (airport), minor changes (time), seat assignment disappear. Each turned out fine and the agents were very understanding and helpful. I have 65 days before I fly to Munich and am looking daily. Overkill I know but I can keep ahead of changes.

What’s really surprised me is the almost no wait time to reach an agent. Even when I called from Italy about my next day flight home from Venice. I try not to call on a weekend when I’m sure they’re busier.

If you haven’t downloaded United’s app and countdown, it’s helpful.
