you need get to Warsaw to connect. I don't know if it's a night train or not; we took a night train from AMS to Poznan that stopped also in Warsaw and then continued to Moscow. We were told that the night train we caught from AMS was the one that came from Moscow and then Warsaw. We took the train because of the valcano problems in Iceland and couldn't fly to Poznan that spring; otherwise, we would have flown. It was quite safe with 2 stewards per coach, however they repeatedly warned us to"keep the door locked!"

Jane, As mentioned above, changing trains in Warsaw (not at central station) if you're going Krakow to Amsterdam by night train is the most direct and quickest way. If you want to break up the ride, I would suggest this: take Krakow to Dresden Hbf., dep. 23:00 but you have to change at Wroclaw (Breslau) at 0500, where you have a lay-over until 0709 for Dresden. I can see that could be a drawback. Spend the day in Dresden (great and lovely city always worth going back to ) until 20:53, take Dresden-Amsterdam direct on the CNL night train. You'll arrive in Amsterdam before 10:00. I would think that you need to make the sleeper reservation in Poland or Holland....do check on that. Last summer going from Vienna-Paris using the day 11 of my Pass with a change in Frankfurt, I was told in Vienna that the Frankfurt-Paris leg with the mandatory reservation on the TGV could not be gotten in Vienna, had to wait until I got to Frankfurt Hbf.
