What is the best way (cost and time) for transportation from Krakow to Budapest? We would like to spend two days in Eger, Hungary and thought that we could be a stop over in route from Krakow. If suggestion is overnight train, plase note that we are a family of 3, so what are the best safe and cost effective options? our trip will be in Sept 2008 and we have not decided if an Eastern Europe pass would be the thing to use. We are going to need transportation help with the last leg of our itinery from Budapest to Prague and we are also traveling by train from Wroclaw to Krakow, but I did not think that would be costly or difficult to arrange, however do you know how long the trip will be and approx cost? Setting up the land transportation for our Eastern Europe trip has been quite a trial so far, so any help will be wonderful. Thank you!
Buying train tickets in Europe is easy. I have never tried to booked them ahead from the USA. I never had problem buying them even on the same day. Just to have a peace of mind you can buy them one or two days ahead. You can find all your connections at this website: http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/en . I was not able to find prices but train travel in eastern Europe is still relatively cheap.
