We are train traveling this July and contemplating stopping briefly in Koln and Delft. Are there luggage lockers large enough to accomodate a Rick Steves' bag? If so, are they easy to use and convenient? We had a miserable experience with lockers in the Gard Nord station in Paris a few years back and don't want to waste an hour of a 3 hours layover fiddling with lockers. Any additional comments on the merits of quick tours in Koln and Delft would be appreciated.
I am not sure about Delft; it is quite small, and I went there as a day trip from Haarlem (and LOVED it!) If they have lockers, they would be easy to find! Koln luggage lockers are definitely easy to find and large enough for a Rick Steves bag (or 2). The Cathedral is literally across the street from the station. We had only two hours total and managed to find the lockers, have some quality time in the Cathedral, and grab a snack between trains...all while still jet-lagging. Enjoy both places!
Yup, I totally 2nd Jan on the Cologne lockers and their sizes...
Thanks for the information on Koln luggage lockers. It will be very helpful to making plans for a stop there this summer! I can always count on the Grafitti Wall readers to help.
Delft is a place I visit regularly.
Plenty of luggage lockers at the station and they couldn't be easier to use. Instructions in many languages including English. Lockers come in a range of sizes and are priced accordingly.
