Known traveler number, nexus card and global entry

So about 18 months ago I applied for a Nexus card as I live 35 minutes from the Bridge to Canada.
Mostly I applied just for the heck of it as i could not believe the year waiting time that they listed and wanted to see for myself.

I already had a Known Traveler Number so could use the “fast lane” at TSA.

Well about 11 months after applying I was talking to a US and a Canadian agent for my “interview”.
(The US agent was nice, the Canadian didn’t have a sense of humor that I could tell)

So I am now the proud owner of a nexus card. So I can get in and out of Canada faster.

Now for the question. Depending on what you read the Nexus card may or may not come with global entry.
Does anyone know for sure? I tied the website but man you can tell that this was a government web site as finding anything is a pain.
Also do I. Now have. A different known traveler number now that I have Nexus?

I am planning a trip to Europe (who would have guessed that on this site :) ) so I just am trying to figure all this out.
Thanks for any advice

I have Nexus and it works for the fast track US-Canada land border, Global Entry and TSA Pre-Check.

Yes, it comes with global entry and tsa precheck. Love my Nexus card.

Here is a little known fact for crossing land borders US/Canada. You can use the Nexus Card crossing both ways in the Nexus lane. US citizens returning from Canada to the United States can also use their Global Entry card in the Nexus lane. Note: Global Entry card does not work in Nexus lane going into Canada, only going into US.

As for known traveler #-look on the back of your Nexus Card. Compare that number with the one you had previously. Is it the same? Only you can tell by comparing.

Some clarification please. When you say "comes with" what do you mean? Automatically sent when you apply for GE? I sure didnt get one, not that I need it. Isn't the GE card the equivalent in this case, which you have to request and pay extra for. I mean the actual card, versus just having GE status. And the NEXUS doesn't replace GE for non-land border crossings, does it?

Here's the US Customs and Border Protection website on the various trusted traveler programs. https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs

The basic difference between Global Entry and Nexus is that Global Entry only gives you expedited entry into the US. Nexus not only gives you expedited entry into the US in the form of Global Entry but also expedited entry into the US and Canada by land via the NEXUS lanes and by sea via ship to shore. You must interview for NEXUS at an enrollment office in WA, NY, ME, MI, ND, MN, MT or VT.

NEXUS does not provide any advantage distinct from Global Entry when entering the US by air.

Stan, It is automatic that you get global entry as well. There is no separate card, just your nexus card. Simply go through the global entry passport line. It is in place.

People with Global Entry can use the Nexus lanes when entering the US by car. They must have their GE cards with them.

About the only difference between Nexus and Global Entry is that Nexus card holders can use the Nexus lanes to enter Canada.

Thank you to all those that provided answers.
After reading all the government stuff it says in a nutshell that the Nexus car number is you known traveler number and you should use it instead of you known traveler number if you had one.
And it says the card also works as global entry but that unlike global entry you can not apply for partner benefits for any country other than S. Korea.
And it works the same way as global entry. You use your passport for that.

And FYI no the card nu, er is not the same as my known travel number. They don’t even seam to be the same format.

But the Nexus number works for everything the Known traveler number works for so in effect it replaces the old number.

Well it only took about a year to get the card so I guess I should use it.

Anyway thanks folks.

As Douglas points out, when you get Global Entry or Nexus you get a new Known Traveler Number. If you had one with TSA-Pre, your old number is still valid until it expires. You will need to update this in your profile on airlines websites.

I got Global Entry in 2023 and my TSA-Pre will expire later this year. I mistakenly though that my TSA-Pre would be renewed with Global Entry. It isn't. Now, I will just use my new Know Traveler Number to get the TSA-Pre benefit.
