KLM carry on

Does anyone have recent experience flying KLM Amsterdam to Italy (Milan)? We are booking through Delta but the flight is operated by KLM. Do they really limit you to one 26 pound carry on and not one carry on and one personal item? It appears those segments are Boeing 737. I'm getting different information from the Delta site vs KLM. Thanks for the help!

I flew KLM operated by Delta to AMS then KLM to Venice In February. Sam's information is correct. I boarded with a RS Convertible carry on (no wheels) and a computer bag (personal item). Neither Delta nor KLM or any other airline have ever weighed my carry on items. While some airlines specify weight limits for cabin baggage, I am wondering how many folks have experiences weigh checks for carry on baggage. (Easy Jet, Ryan and the like aside.) I have only been dimension check once with a sizing box.

Its pretty hard to pack much more than 20 lb of clothes in a 21.5x10x13.5 bag, so you have 5 lb or so leeway on your personal item (laptop, ipad, chargers, toiletries, reading material, etc.). I'm trying to recall if there any gate scales at European airports, there may be. Take a jacket with some really big pockets, and if you are pressing the weight limit, just slip some of the heavier items like laptop & chargers in the jacket pockets.
I'm sure at RyanAir, they're hard at work figuring out how they can charge passengers based on their weight. Will we see sweatboxes, in waiting areas to make weight? For a fee of course.
