Need to get from Rome back to Munich. It looks to me that Karlsruhe-Baden may be the closest to Munich that Ryanair flys. Before I buy tickets can someone confirm that this is a good choice?

As best I can tell it is more than 300 km - almost 200 miles from Karlsruhe-Baden to Munich. By train it would take more than 4 hours - after you take a bus from the airport to the train station. If you check www.whichbudget.com you will other low-price carriers that fly direct Rome-Munich.

There is a direct train out of Rome at 7:42 getting to Munich at 6:26 PM. If you book ahead online through DB you can get a Europa-Spezial Italien fare as low as €33. It takes 10 1/2hrs, but if you fly through Baden-Baden with a train back to Munich, it might take about as long and cost more. One direct train sounds like a less hassle than a flight, three airport connections, and a another long distance train trip.
