What is the "order" used by K.L.M. for boarding passengers on theur international flights? Has anyone encountered lack of overhead storage space for those boarded last? Thanks for any info, Nancy
All airlines board from the seats in the back of the plane first. There is usually just enough space for everyones carry-ons. Although sometimes when space is tight it may have to placed in a bin a few rows away from where you are seated.
I flew KLM from SFO to Schiphol...there was an order as with the other airlines....just don't remember.
Not quite true nowadays. Most airlines board from the back but outside of the plane going in. For example, those near the front of the plane with aisle seats board last on United.
International flights tend to have a fair amount of overhead space, I wouldn't worry too much.
Loading from back to front used to be common. Lately, as in United, different airlines are using different plans.
The best way to ensure you get bin space is to get as close to the front of the line as possible. When they start pre boarding stand as close as you comfortably can to the gate person. When they call your boarding group, jump right in and stow your bag quickly.
I fly United and always have a #4 boarding pass. These are issued to PAX sitting in aisle seats so that we will board last. Boarding last the overhead bins near your seat may be full, but I have always found space for my bag.
Nancy -
KLM usually boards by zones - I can't remember in which order they go in though! Sorry!
